Elaine is a registered dietitian that has been a leading nutrition expert for over 15 years. She began her career as an intern at the University of Michigan Medical Center and as the president of her student Dietetic Association. She has worked with a variety of corporations, associations, professional sport teams, universities, and has appeared in numerous TV spots, interviewed for magazines, quoted in newspapers and been broadcast on the radio. She is currently in the processes of authoring a book and publishing articles.
In 2002 she founded Associates in Nutrition Therapy, a consulting company proving service and support to businesses and individuals. Her client list includes government agencies, professional associations, universities, schools, colleges, athletic trainers, doctor’s offices, fitness clubs, spas, and community organizations. Elaine inspires students, coaches, athletes, faculty members, her peers, and is involved in cutting edge nutrition research.
As a young athlete and model Elaine was very focused on her body and weight. She realized that it became an issue when she was trying to meet “societies” standard of weight and body image. “Often times young girls, especially athletes become obsessed with their image and weight”, so much that it hinders their athletic performance and career. Elaine was a 9th grade Varsity Cross Country runner, a 10th grade Varsity Volleyball player and on her way to competing for a seat on the US Olympic women’s gymnastics team. She was seeded number 2 in her freshman year and her goal was to become number 1 and go onto the Olympics. With great parents and an awesome God, how could she go wrong? Only half way thru her freshman year, her performance started to deteriorate with multiple episodes of erratic heart rate, dehydration, and hyperventilation. Her athletic performance continued to go down hill and she never recovered. Although, Elaine continued to play sports thru high school, her athletic talent never fully evolved into the Olympian she was once thought to become. It was not until her freshman year of college that she realized what had truly happened in high school. Her focus and drive for perfecting her body image and weight, only stumped her growth as a young athlete and model. It was at that point, she dedicated her life to being a dietitian and nutrition educator. Elaine’s goal as a professional is to educate about proper nutrition and hydration, not only to athletes, but to an entire nation. Her motto is stop, take the time, and listen (to your clients).
