What is a Dietitian?

A Registered Dietitian is the food and nutrition expert, trained to provide
credible nutrition information to the public.  The terms Dietitian and
Nutritionist are legally enforceable in the state of Florida.  Registered
Dietitians are required to earn a four year college degree in nutrition or a
related field which is approved by the American Dietetic Association,
complete 900 hours of supervised practice in nutrition and dietetics, and
pass an exam administered by the Commission of Dietetic Registration to
earn the title: Registered Dietitian (RD).  RD's are responsible for staying
current on food and nutrition issues through continuing education.  To find a
local Registered Dietitian, please contact us.

There is a new member stipend offering from the FDA for a $100 membership stipend that is available to any RD that has been newly credentialed within the last 5 years.  If you are interested, please contact John Wills, FDA Membership Chair at jwills321@tampabay.rr.com or (727) 596-5681.
